Cymothoe hobarti are beautiful colorful butterflies native to the tropical forests of Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Congo. This beautiful 3D smartminted coin is one of a collection honoring butterflies.
Cymothoe hobarti is a butterfly genus with about 75 different species. They come in many different colors, but the most stunning ones are those featured on this coin. They are known as Hobart’s Red Gliders, and are red or bright orange in color.

One particularly unique thing about this coin collection is the fact that each year, the butterfly featured on the coin is native to a different country. The 2016 edition comes from Tanzania, while the previous years featured butterflies from Tokelau, Andorra, Cameroon, Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea. It’s only been in recent years that the butterflies have been featured in 3D, which gives the coin a really cool effect, making it almost as if you had a live butterfly frozen in time right in the palm of your hands.
