An actual remnant of the Berlin Wall is embedded in The Fall of the Wall Coin.
Everyone remembers when the Berlin Wall came down. Now a commemorative coin with an embedded piece of that infamous wall marks this very special world event with moving imagery and dramatic design.

In 1961, an enduring symbol of the “Cold War” was established, the wall dividing East and West Berlin, fashioned by leaders of communist held East Berlin to prevent passage between east and west sections of the German city. For years, defections to free West Berlin were stemmed at the main checkpoint, while other daring attempts succeeded. In November, 1989, the leader of the East German Communist Party announced that citizens could cross the border freely, and the “wall” began to tumble. Amid jubilant celebrations, citizens armed with hammers and tools began destroying sections of the 170-kilometer long wall with joyous fervor. The Fall of the Wall Coin, minted as part of the Republic of Palau collection, is a spectacular interpretation of the former checkpoint, now a museum, that demonstrates the flow of color and life back in as the wall is removed. Each silver coin includes a genuine embedded piece of the original Berlin Wall.
